Server / Desktop Engineer.

The Desktop and Server Engineer joins the Column5 team of server professionals. This position is responsible for these activities:

Server responsibilities
  • Coordinating daily co-located server environment activities such as building servers, removing servers, server hardware and software upgrades, and preventative maintenance activities.
  • Maintaining and understanding software licensing for the servers.
  • Internal network integration with local and remote user system.
  • Build up/ tear down of hosted virtual machines.
  • Troubleshoot all types of server issues/problems/connectivity issues and resolves problems.
  • Establishes and implements server environment policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Establishes and implements security standards.
  • Creates and maintains backup / recovery strategies within agreed-upon SLA.
  • Enforces established policies, procedures, and security standards.
  • Provides proper and timely communication/status of any ongoing troubleshooting and resolution for compromised devices or applications.
  • Provides regular status reports to immediate supervisor.
  • Implements and supports key applications and services such as server patch management, antivirus, email system, DNS, DHCP, and backup methodologies.
  • Assist with phone system
End-user responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot/fix user laptop issues.
  • Create/expand laptop imaging capabilities
  • Prepare new laptops for new users
  • Prepare laptop renewals
  • Maintain equipment list
  • Give users access/remove access to various systems as appropriate
  • Microsoft CRM implementation and maintenance- including the CRM client
Expectations
  • Weekend work is necessary from time to time
  • The ideal Candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of experience directly administering a Avaya / Windows / Active Directory system. The administration experience should encompass managing and troubleshooting the following aspects of the system:
  • Telecommunications Troubleshooting Skills
  • Overall knowledge of VoIP or Contact Center products
  • Equallogic SAN and/or EMC SAN.
  • Application server.
  • SQL Backup
  • User Accounts.
  • Domain controller.
  • Security / Auditing services.
  • DNS services.
  • DHCP services.
  • IIS services
  • Terminal services.
  • Group Policies.
  • Software distribution.
  • MS Patch distribution.
  • Antivirus application
  • Backup and Restore
  • Performance monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
