Balanced Scorecard

The Balanced Scorecard is a tool for communicating, deploying, measuring and managing the execution of strategy. Three principles are central to this approach. First, use one measurement framework as a means to align organizations with targets that support the strategy. Second, non-financial measures should be used (in addition to financial ones) to provide "leading indicators" of future performance. Third, targets should be established so that one business objective isn't achieved at the expense of another. In other words, they should be balanced.
